The Philip D. Adler Journalism and Mass Communication Building
The 65,500-square-foot Philip D. Adler Journalism and Mass Communication Building is located west of the Pentacrest and adjacent to the Samuel L. Becker Communication Studies Building, the UI Main Library, and the English-Philosophy Building.
The $19 million Adler Building, which opened for classes in January 2005, secures a bright future for the school, ensuring that top-notch students and faculty from across the state and around the globe will be drawn to the UI and provided with the tools and environment they need to do their best work.
The Adler building houses the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, along with The Daily Iowan and the Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature.
Fund-raising Goal
The UI and the state of Iowa are doing their part by providing essential funding for this important project. Those who believe in the school's mission were asked to join together to commit $6 million in private gifts.
As of December 31, 2005, the campaign has raised $6,030,708 -- 100 percent of the funds needed!
THANK YOU to the alumni and friends who reflected on what the school has meant to them -- and what it will mean to coming generations, within the UI and throughout our society.
We all will benefit from having given the school the facilities to match its intellectual and creative strengths.
