Support for UI Students
Total campaign goal: $172 million
Give now online!
No more important task exists than preparing our students for success in an increasingly competitive and global economy. That task begins by bringing the best and most deserving students to The University of Iowa and assuring that they receive the financial resources they need to succeed.
The UI can play a crucial role in preparing tomorrow's leaders, who will work to better the world in which we all live.
That's why we seek to raise substantial funds to nourish the talented and diverse people -- both undergraduate and graduate students -- who choose to begin their futures at Iowa.
We want to help students succeed by providing financial-aid opportunities such as:
- 200 new need-based scholarships that reward and recognize talented incoming students as well as those who may not have entered the University as top scholars but who have achieved at the highest levels throughout their enrollment
(Minimum commitment: $30,000)
- 100 new Presidential Scholarships, the University's most prestigious award for select entering first-year students at the top of their high school classes
(Minimum commitment: $150,000)
- 50 new Opportunity at Iowa Scholarships for select first-year students of African-American, Latino/a, or Native-American heritage who rank at the top of their high school classes
(Minimum commitment: $100,000)
We want to open up new worlds for students by providing resources for:
- Study-abroad programs
- Funding for graduate research and fellowships
- Support for the Honors Program
Why now? Consider these facts:
- Though the UI's tuition remains among the lowest in the Big Ten, our costs -- when combined with books, fees, and living expenses -- are still beyond many students' means.
- Although 84 percent of the UI's scholarships and grants support need-based undergraduate scholarships and loan programs, the average indebtedness of today's graduating senior is more than $11,000.
- According to a recent survey, top student-scholars recruited but not enrolled by the UI cited the perception of a lack of financial assistance as the primary reason they chose to go elsewhere.
By establishing an endowed scholarship or supporting other student-centered resources, you can help the University continue to bring extraordinary people to our campus -- to better their lives, to do good for others, and to learn from one another in the best possible academic circumstances.
You can make a difference in the world's future by supporting Iowa's next generation of leaders and innovators.

The event allows students to meet and interact with donors who have created scholarship funds, and to learn more about how privately funded student aid is helping students pursue their academic and career goals.

"My Opportunity at Iowa scholarship means a lot to me, and I am very grateful for it. It's the reason I'm here at Iowa. It made all the difference.
"I didn't have to go into major debt or put my family in a difficult situation by asking them to choose between things they need and paying for my education."
